Drum Kit sampling

Since I began to compose music, I've always had the same problem with drum kit selection. At the beginning I used a dr550 samples. After some sessions and records, I tried the "Toontrack Drumkit from Hell" VSTi on Cubase which allow to work with midi tracks but really it didn't like me. Very simple and flat sounds.

For my "Belowe Daal" album, I used samples from there and here, it was a mix from different stuff. The result was regular. I did not like because, I had to secuence in Sony Acid each track: bass drum, snare, toms, etc and that was very exhausting for me. Midi track base was at final unsuitable.

Now working with EXS24 sampler from Logic in Mac Os X I had a nice idea: I got a real drum kit from a friend and I recorded individual sounds in my studio: Mapex bass drum and air and floor toms, Black Panther snare, Zidjian and Sabian crash cymbals and hi hat. The result has been really really good. Sounds has been sampled and Logic's EXS24 allows me to work with midi tracks and a master keyboard. For my upcoming new album, I'll use that stuff. =)

See you all!
